This holiday season we kept busy making holiday crafts. Recycled garlands, cards, tree decorations and bows are all over the office. The handmade ornaments definitely spruced up the office tree. Happy Holidays from I love making stuff!

Cut it Out Screen Printing October Workshop

Our October screen printing class was a blast. We love having this class and so did our students. The weather was perfect, a welcome reprieve from the rainy week. Nancy taught everyone how to screen-print, while being eco-friendly.  The class was very enjoyable as people shared ideas and designs.  It was fun to see all the students leave with  hand crafted print. Check out the pictures from our creative day… and sign up for our next class as soon as we send out the email. You won’t want to miss it. Oh by the way for those of you who’ve come before… we have clamps for everyone now and soon we’ll have a drying line. It just keeps getting better.

Ongoing Roundtable Art class

Calling all creative minds!!! Or at least a few brilliant ones!

We are thinking of starting a monthly art class designed to get your creative juices flowing. Show up and work on your own projects, start a new one or bounce ideas off other creative members in the group. Each meeting will have a theme or idea, sometimes drawing, or collaging or even screen printing/mono printing/block printing. A truly creative and inspiring time to nurture yourself. There will be a small materials fee and participants will be encouraged to share ideas, materials, expertise. Experience creative mind as these class will have limited instruction.  This class /meeting will be hosted by Nancy Walter of I Love Making Stuff in her beautiful (fairly new) studio. Please drop us a line if you are interested or have ideas for this meeting

Artist Craftsman Supply

Artist and Craftsman Supply is one of the best art stores in town. Nestled in the heart of Hillcrest, this wonderful shop always gets my attention. I recently stopped by and bought some fabulous handmade paper. The sampler pack of paper will be perfect to test some of my screen printing designs!

Mono Print designs

For the last three weekends I have been learning the craft of Mono printing. The craft is wonderful and full of surprises. Here are some samples of the art that I created in the class.

October Screen Printing Class

What you get: Stencils, paper and instruction.

The hottest crafting topic seems to be Screen Printing! A combo of decorative painting, pop-art, and graffiti. So we created this workshop to meet the demand.

We hope you can join us for this four hour class. You will learn how to build the screen, cut paper templates, and learn to screen print — the whole shabang!

You will walk away with a set of hand-made pop-up cards (and/or) a poster ready for framing, and a skill that can be used over and over for many different projects.

(If you have fun paper you want to print on or experiment with, an Xacto knife and drawing tools, feel free to bring them, even if you don’t want to share).

Get ready for some goopy fun!
Make sure to wear clothes that you can get messy in!

BTW We’ll let you know where to get all the materials you need to do this at home so you can build your own screens and print to your hearts content.

Monoprint class

Last weekend I experimented with making quick one of a kind monoprints! I am enrolled to take the full class this weekend and learn the process. Monotype printmaking is very close to painting, it can be very expressive and unexpected. Once I feel ready to forge ahead we will be adding this to the roster. Look for our 3 part screen printing class.
