Inspired by my trip to Spacecraft in Brooklyn, I made some paper-mâché lamps. The lamps turned out great, using tissue paper, “Chinese New Year” metallic paper and printed vellum. The light shines through the paper and creates awesome ambiance! We will be creating a class based on our super-duper technique! Be on the lookout for it!

Calling all creative minds!!! Or at least a few brilliant ones!
We are thinking of starting a monthly art class designed to get your creative juices flowing. Show up and work on your own projects, start a new one or bounce ideas off other creative members in the group. Each meeting will have a theme or idea, sometimes drawing, or collaging or even screen printing/mono printing/block printing. A truly creative and inspiring time to nurture yourself. There will be a small materials fee and participants will be encouraged to share ideas, materials, expertise. Experience creative mind as these class will have limited instruction. This class /meeting will be hosted by Nancy Walter of I Love Making Stuff in her beautiful (fairly new) studio. Please drop us a line if you are interested or have ideas for this meeting

I have been nursing a very sore arm for quite some time and had to take a break from over-using it. BUT I NEED TO MAKE ART!!! So over the past weekend I got the studio organized and pulled out my collage materials and sat down to start a project! It feels great! Making the art and my arm! Since I have been spending so much time going to galleries, museums, craft shows and taking oodles of photos, I feel so inspired to try something new. This is the VERY START of a piece I am working on… I am going to cover it in white embellishments and show it off when it’s done.

How fun! I am going to be at it all week. I will be teaching a great collage class soon. Don’t miss it.

We have taken some of our original collages and turned them into affordable prints! They are larger than the originals and make a very dramatic set. These are all available in our webstore!

Here is our last sampling of the bags made for the Taste and Art Stroll of Del Mar. Besides these eco-friendly bags, we will also have handmade screen prints, t-shirts, collages, posters, cards, and tags. We really hope you can come!

Hmmmm. Wonder what all this is about? Nancy is working feverishly to get some really beautiful and inventive pieces for the Taste and Art Stroll of Del Mar. If you want to know what these magazines get turned into, you have to stop by our table and find out!

We have been so busy with the launch of I Love Making Stuff, that I almost forgot about a very important birthday! Luckliy I had an old magazine and a gluestick. Look how great my card turned out and it is completely recycled! Happy Birthday!

Smaller scale collage lends itself well to collaboration. During a zine workshop (a zine is a self-published, underground mini-magazine) an assortment of artists and creative types gather around one large table, sharing in the creative experience. A particular kind of energy occurs in the process. The experience nurtures synergy and courage. And it’s really fun! We hope to inspire you to come to one of our Zine classes. After 1 you’ll be hooked!

The circle is a perfect form. Circle motifs appear in much of my work, and here in my collages. These abstract compositions build dramatic tension with rich colors and contrasting shapes producing visual depth, texture, shape, color— through the use of overlay and attention to form. If you ask me there is nothing as fun as the process of collage!
